Your First Visit
What To Expect
We are dedicated to making every dental visit as pleasant as possible. Dr. Bruce Baker will review your child's health and dental history, learn your concerns and answer your questions. After the initial consultation, you will be informed of your child's dental needs and will be given assistance in scheduling your child's next appointment for treatment.
Routine procedures during the first visit include:
- A Dental Assistant will accompany you and your child to the x-ray area for all necessary x-rays. X-rays may be necessary depending on each individual case.
- The Dental Assistant will then take your child to start cleaning their teeth. In the meantime, the Dental Assistant will inform you and your child about proper brushing, flossing and the use of fluoride.
- Fluoride applications help teeth become more resistant to cavities.
- Examination of oral cavity and the head/neck area for signs of dental cavities, infection, or any other abnormalities. Also, evaluation of bite and room for erupting teeth, as well as oral health habits like thumb sucking, mouth breathing, et cetera.
- The Dental Assistant will accompany you to the check out desk and an assistant will discuss the course of treatment for your child as well as any financial information. The assistant will then schedule your child's next dental appointment.
